911 Audio Released From Freak Accident Rialto

The 911 call that captured the terrifying conversation between a driver in an out-of-control vehicle seeking out help and California Highway Patrol has been released.
According to CHP, Trevor Robben claimed his cruise control was stuck while driving on the 210 Freeway in Rialto. The truck crashed and had been hospitalized in critical condition.
CHP adds, “It was a freak accident. There is still no explanation for this type of malfunction.”
CHP: “911, what emergency are you reporting?”
Robben: “My accelerator is stuck, I have no idea what to do.”
Robben’s truck was speeding out of control, going as fast as 90 mph, heading eastbound on the 210 Freeway in Rialto.
CHP: “You can’t change gears on your vehicle? You can’t turn it into neutral?”
Robben: “No, no. I can’t even put on my emergency brake cruise control. I can’t do
anything.”
Robben, unfortunately, was not ever able to regain control of his vehicle. He crashed and was ejected from the seat of his 2000 Nissan Frontier. He survived but is currently in ICU. Robben, the 29-year-old father, is no condition to explain to his family what happened in the truck.
The 911 audio was released Friday to the driver’s brother, Griffen Robben. He stated he heard additional CHP officers suggesting alternative ways to shut off the ignition.

Robben: “Ma’am, I’m scared out of my life.”
CHP: “I know. I am trying to get a unit into position, okay?”
Robben: “Key back? No, I can’t. I am just afraid of the other people getting hit. I am not on drugs or anything like that. I don’t want to die. I really don’t want to die.”
Robben attempted to guide his truck into an open lane, cautiously trying to avoid other motorists. He never regained control, his truck flips, but no other vehicle is hit.
The most bizzare thing out of this rare incident is that it was discovered that Trevor Robben was not wearing a seatbelt.
CHP released a statement Friday claiming they had performed a vehicle inspection but did not find any mechanical malfunction that would have resulted in the collision. Drugs and alcohol don’t appear to be a factor in the crash. The investigation is still ongoing, and CHP cannot release additional information regarding the cause of the collision at the time.
